Temerloh - Mentakab - Lanchang Discoveries
Another ideal stopover before reaching Kuantan.
A place where Patin Fish is deemed daily food supplements for the locals.
Temerloh is a town approximately 50 km from Karak. It's not a town with a lot of fancy shopping malls or trendy coffee shops.
But if you're looking for a retreat or meditation, this could be the ideal place for your next stop over. Many people will tend to pass over this place due to other destinations like Kuantan, Genting Highlands, Bentong or Bukit Tinggi outweigh its interest. Yet, without all the commercialised elements, there are still tons of interesting places and outdoor activities awaiting you to discover and ultimately leading you to its hidden treasures.

1. Gunung Senyum
This recreation park is well known with its legendary caves. There are many sections leading to different entrances of the caves. Ladders are available for climbing up to the entry points of the caves. During our arrival, the entire park looked a little bit run down, and the pathway towards all the sections seemed being covered up by all the bushes. When we were about to give up and leave, we bump into a 2 local malay guys. A middle age man and a teenager.
They were so friendly and offered to be our guide to the caves.
We then followed both of their trails for this adventurous caves exploration.
They led us from one cave to another. Passing through all the narrow gap between the rocks, we squat, slide, hold, withstand, and all the stunning actions. Finally we concurred few caves and managed to see the heavenly beautiful caves.
We appeared as a tiny ant under the caves. Imagining all this caves have been set on this earth few millions year ago. They saw the changing of the eras, the ground, and the human evolution.
The local malay also brought us to the dark caves exploration. They carried a torch and lit up the super dark caves. Walking through the dark caves, we heard nothing but only the silence and the water dripping sound. We truly believe that the caves could always hear us but they were somehow being neglected for many decades ever since human has evolved and no longer needed them for a shelf.

This is a famous local park in Termeloh. The most eye catching one is the giant signage stated TERMELOH displayed at the opposite side of the river.
Usually, the locals like to hang aroud at the river side, taking a walk, chit chatting or even a quick gathering or catch up during their leisure time.
Boat ride is available and you could opt for a boat wide with only RM 6 to tour around the muddy River. Its quite cool expecially when you're riding a shaky boat in the middle of this massive muddy River.
Unfortunately, the canopy is under reno due to a massive flood incident happened in few years back and badly destroyed its structure. The reno work is until further notice.

3. IKAN BAKAR ABC TEMERLOH
One of the best grilled fish in Temerloh is here at the stall ABC.
We ordered one plate of grilled fish & squid. Both costed us only RM 15 each. Super affordable. The seafoods are very fresh here and I do like their grilling style, a special mild spicy and sour sauce and wrapped in the Banana leaves.
It's so tantalising and toothsome.
Beside the grilled fish is another stall serving all the fried dishes. One of the signature is claypot 'mouse tail' noodles haha.. So good.

4. Restaurant Wee Kee ( Steamed Patin Fish)
Coming to Termoeloh without having a steamed fresh Patin Fish is considered a waste.
This is one of the popular local seafood restaurant serving steamed fresh Patin Fish. They're having other in-house signature dishes too. Taste is very authentic expecially the Patin Fish steamed with their high graded soy sauce, and the meat is so tender as if you're eating a Chinese sashimi. One of the reason is the steam timing is just nice and not overly cooked. The freshness is still well kept within the fish meat.

1. Kuala Ganda Elephant Sactuary
When you're on the way back to KL, perhaps you could make a detour to this Elephant Sactuary. Generally, this is a government subsidized nursery centre to protect the elephants living in Malaysia. This center is essentially to promote the awareness about the importance of protecting the wildlife, and maintain a balance eco system on our earth. Certainly the key take away message is to protect the elephants from being abused or hunted by the illegal poachers.
This is purely a conservation centre showing the process of protecting the elephants through their daily living. Riding, or taking elephants as a entertainer are strictly prohibited in this centre.
In general, this is a very informative conservation centre about the research and a deep understanding of elephants characteristic.

Besides deers, there are other animals within the park too. Along the walking trail, you will see a lot of exotic animals like snakes, multiple species of lizards, racoon, porcupine and some petting animals. I do like their walking pathway. It is decorated like a jungle walk covered by a lot of huge trees and bushes.
