Through a random search, I came across a beautiful hillside lodge that immediately caught my attention.

After several failed booking attempts due to full occupancy, I finally secured a stay over the weekend—and it was absolutely worth the wait.

This hidden gem, Indigo Hill Resort, is nestled among the lush hills near Raub. Resorts in this region are well known for their durian orchards and fruit farms, with some of the finest durians in Malaysia produced here thanks to its fertile soil and favorable climate.

It’s no surprise that this modest town attracts visitors from all over the world seeking both premium durians and a peaceful retreat.

Indigo Hill offers a full-board staycation experience, complete with three meals a day. The journey into the resort involves a narrow, winding road and a 7–8 minute off-road drive—but that’s exactly what makes it special.

Once you arrive, you’re completely removed from the noise of the city. Instead, you’re surrounded by nature, with only birdsong and the gentle hum of insects forming a calming symphony. With no public access, the resort feels truly exclusive and untouched.

Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the owner’s son, Jervis. Friendly and attentive, he guided us through the itinerary and ensured we were well settled—an excellent start to the stay.

Room
Our room featured two double beds—spacious, clean, and cozy. It came with a balcony overlooking lush greenery, where we could watch birds fluttering through the trees and goats wandering nearby. The atmosphere was incredibly relaxing.
The room was also well-equipped with:

• Table and chairs

Meals
The full-board experience was one of the highlights:

Tea Time
We were welcomed with refreshing durian cendol and pastries. Enjoying a cold bowl of cendol under the afternoon sun was simply delightful. Although it wasn’t peak durian season, we were fortunate to sample a pod of Musang King specially reserved by the host, along with other (frozen) varieties.

Dinner
Dinner was a generous steamboat and grill feast with a wide selection of ingredients. The staff, including Jervis, frequently checked in to ensure we had more than enough to enjoy.

Breakfast
A hearty, home-cooked spread featuring nasi lemak with curry chicken, half-boiled eggs, dim sum, and coffee or tea. The rice was fragrant and the sambal was especially flavorful.

Activities
Farm Tour (4WD Ride)
After check-in, Jervis brought us on a tour around the orchard and vegetable farm. He shared insights into farm operations and his experience managing the family business. Highlights included:
• Observatory platform with stunning views and photo spots
• Heart-shaped trees
• Artistic mural rocks
• Waterfall and spring pools
• Orchard and vegetable farms
Karaoke Night
After dinner, guests could enjoy unlimited karaoke—perfect for a fun and relaxed evening.
Sunrise & “Cloud Carpet” Experience

The next morning, we headed up to the observatory platform to catch the sunrise. While we didn’t get a full cloud carpet view, the rolling hills and drifting clouds still created a breathtaking panorama.

Jervis also offered us the experience of driving an ATV.

Indigo Hill is deeply tucked within the orchard grounds, offering zero pollution and complete serenity. The surrounding mountains, forests, and ever-changing clouds create a powerful and humbling connection with nature.

Jervis stands out as a passionate and driven host. Young and energetic, he has big plans to further enhance the resort experience—such as a cabin-style transport system to the hilltop, walking trails, educational tours on durian cultivation, a giant swing, and guided ATV routes.

His passion for durian farming is evident. Having inherited knowledge from his family, he is already skilled in grading, identifying, and cultivating quality durians.
I genuinely wish him success in all his future plans. Sometimes, success doesn’t come from following the common path, but from pursuing what truly resonates within—and Indigo Hill is a perfect example of that.
