When Genting Highland is flooded with crowds, there is always an alternative choice to overcome your disappointment. You can make a re-route to this hidden gems Batang Kali. Forget about casino, theme park, shopping and ETC. Batang Kali is a peaceful town where you could take a deep breath of the fresh air, soothing your eyes with greenery, and of course to cleanse your stressful soul!

1. Cholo-Cholo Hot Spring Tamu

This hot spring spot located in Batang Kali is probably one of the cleanest and well maintained one closeby to Kuala Lumpur. It takes you less than 1 hour to reach the place.

There are many different sizes of hot spring pools ranging from low to high heat. The hottest one could reach the temperature around 40'c.

Will highly recommend to reserve the private pool section in advance to experience a more peaceful and quiet environment. The pool facility at the private section looks more organised and exclusive too.

By paying a little bit extra, you could have the entire place reserved for you and your loved ones. Soaking into the hot pool with only your pals and relaxing all your muscles & joints through a nice sweats. No disturbance and only heart to heart talk in a steaming smoke. Privacy guarantee.

2. World of Phalaenopsis (Orchard Farm)

Despite if you're a flowers fans, I'm sure you would fall in love to this place. Surrounded by flowers scent, colourful petals, full of bloom, and sipping your flower tea. Best place to unwind when you're in Batang kali. If you're the professional planter, you would probably spend the whole day just watching the flowers bloom to its wondeful way.

3. Kuil Buddha Sakya Tharig Centre

This is a very gorgeous temple with all the originality from Tibet. This temple is in the centre of the forestry enviroment, surrounded by greenery and fresh air. The significant statue of the giant Buddha in the core of the temple is the trademark of this temple. Showing the way to the enlightenment and righteousness. Tons of holy displays within the main hall of the temple, and alot of worshipers from around the world came to this place to pray for God mercy and goodwill. It's worthwhile to pay a visit to witness its magnificence.

It's not easy to locate this temple. Waze is not leading to the final destination. Waze will only navigate up to the main junction turning into the temple. You need to locate the yellow sign board showing the temple title (As shown above) . And continue driving along a bumpy road for about 3-5 mins. And the temple is situated at the edge of the rocky road.

4. Ulu Yam Loh Mee (Hock Choon Kee)

Coming to Batang kali without having a bowl of Ulu Yam Loh Mee is never a complete trip. Ulu Yam loh mee is well known by many. The specialty is the gravy and the noodles. This Loh Mee is cooked with flavourful broth added with egg, meat, shrimp and most importantly black vinegar. The recipe was invented by an old man living in Ulu Yam in good old days. His mix & match in-house recipe with the ingredients above has surprisely created a bowl of braised noodles which is the Loh Mee today. I would say this is ONLY in Ulu Yam. So Good.

5. Tea time at Ulu Yam (Jin Hojak) 真好吃鹵面店

We discovered a good tea time place near to Ulu Yam too. This stall is located along the famous loh mee Street. The stir fried noodles (or the local called Chee Cheong Fun) is the highlight. The signature is the chee Cheong fun stirred fried with dried shrimp paste sambal. Super savory and scrummy. The coffee and milo are very thick and rich too. The owner is very generous in serving the portion of foods.

6. Empangan Sungai Selangor Kuala Kubu Bahru (Sungai Selangor Dam)

Approximately 20km away will lead you to the Sungai Selangor Dam. This is one of the recreational place for overviewing the beautiful dam. This is the largest water dam in Penisular Malaysia and surrounded by the rolling mountains. The scenery is very astonishing, standing besides the water dam, it seems like you're watching a borderless mirror with the reflection of the fluffy clouds. It's so heavenly beautiful and underneath the water seems having a lot of miraculous fairy tales.

7. Guava Bee Farm

This is a guava farm featured with Honey information centre.

Unfortunately, our visit was not the guava harvesting season. So we couldn't see the guava ripening. However, the owner Mr. Lee was very friendly, he walked us through some knowledge about Honey and let us try all sort of honey distributed by him. He was never forcing to buy any products but just to introduce some honey formation process to us. He was also serving some guava fruits that he reserved for any visiting guests. Super juicy. Sadly, he was not selling due to not the season of guava.

8. Home made Bao

Locate this stall along the main road near to Batang Kali.

Only available during weekend.

Very quality home made bao freshly steamed at the roadside. Their signatures are black sesame, steamed meat, & vegetable filling.

Super yummy.

The mobile Home Made Pao Stall is situated in front of this building.

9. Kebun Cafe / Hoho Farm

This little vegetable farm has lately become one of the top attraction in Batang Kali. Besides the vegetable farm stretching out as far as your eyes can see, it's also featured with a coffee house within the farm.

The coffee house is just right beside the vegetable farm and you can rest assured that every sip coffee is accompanied by the scent of green.

The coffee house is divided into 2 sections. Indoor and outdoor. The outdoor seating is non air-conditioning but it's facing a piece of massive grass land. Truly relaxing. Sitting outdoor, you can immerse yourself in peaceful nature and quietness. Only bird chirping is reminding you that you're not alone.

You cab also purchase some freshly picked vegetable from their farm. 100% guarantee organic and fresh ! Highly recommended !

10. Five leaf Cafe

A very cozy coffee house stationed beside the main road of Batang kali. This cafe sits in between a very eye-catching stack-up containers compound. They're serving some toothsome pastries and their sliced cakes come with some very stand-out and exceptional flavours.

Such as blueberry Pistachio cake. The filling contains blueberry fluids, and some sort of pandan layer crepe, and the top is the pistachio crumbs. The fresh cream is very tantalising too. Will try out their other flavours of cake on my next visit.

Coffee and other Beverages are very awesome too. Worth to try !

11. 9657 Basket Ball Court Loh Mee (9657 篮球场卤面）

Another choice of place for having a very localised Ulu Yam Loh Mee. This restaurant is situated inside a Basket Ball Court. The chef is a young man and trust that this Loh Mee Stall has been operated for few generations.

Without having a very directive sign board, all the regular customers will visit this stall every now and then for a bowl of authentic Loh Mee.

Imagining the thick broth with a mild vinegar scented taste, blended with high graded soy sauce and enriched with some lard and meat base ingredients, and finally well mixed with the smooth slippery rough yellow noodles. This is a a beautiful bowl 🥣 of Loh Mee.

Do try this if you're here in Ulu Yam Batang kali. Thier fried Lam Yu (preserved bean curd taste) pork is one of the highlight too.
