Sungkai Organic Orchard - Let the Nature Be The Best Nature

Sungkai Organic Orchard - Let the nature be the best nature!

Came across this homestay from a Facebook. Rating is rather impressive, and it has gained a good credits from most of the stay-in guest. The owner is super responsive and accomodative. We managed to secure a room for a weekend stay.

This homestay is nestled in an orchard. It takes about 2 mins off road to reach out to this beautiful homestay.

Mr. Wan is the owner and the wife Aunty Connie is the one that responding and liaising with all the guest's request and queries. She has responsively shared all the relevant information including the directions, check in procedure and the payment details. She has even gone extra miles to fulfill all the additional needs from the guest.

I requested for a TV box and she was wiling to source us one unit despite being deemed as an extra request. She was also offered the help with breakfast arrangement upon our request.

This homestay is nestled within an enchanting orchard with bountiful fruit trees, curated with care on an organic farm exclusively overseen by the Wan family. Mr. Wan and his wife tirelessly tend to the entirety of the farm. Embraced by hills adorned with diverse fruit trees, the crisp, unpolluted air resonates with the delightful melody of birds, drawn to this haven for its minimal toxicity. Unlike fertilized farms with elevated chemical levels, here, the birds thrive in a harmonious environment free from harmful contaminants.

As advised by Mr. Wan, their orgabic farm has produced the juiciest fruits as they are using the bio-dynamic + Shimamoto technique to trap the organic nutrients beneath the soil. Besides, every fruits will have a diffrent taste. This is called organic. Unlike other fertilised farm, the fruits are fully controlled and formatted by the owner using chemical and high level of fertiliser.

This homestay is like a Taiwanese Village perhaps a little like Balineae style. It allows you to gain the first hands of fresh air, a place for ideal meditation and friends gathering. It's also a pet friendly too.

for durian, the harvesting season is around the month of Aug & Dec. It's fun to see all the hanging fruits. Just can't wait to pick it !

5. Visit Vegetable Farm

Mr. Wan, the owner, offered a vegetable farm tour along with a neighboring farm visit. Freshness is guaranteed if you decide to take home some vegetables. My mom harvested wild ferns (Paku Vege), which we sent to the restaurant to be stir-fried with shrimp paste sauce – it turned out to be so awesomely delicious!

6. Our hearty Breakfast

Aunty Connie was very kind enough to help us pack the breakfast from the town. A simple pack of nasi lemak with a fried egg turned out to be incredibly delicious and satisfying.

Something about the owner Mr. Wan and Aunty Connie 👫

I would like to give my credits to Mr. Wan and Aunty Connie for thier hospitality during our stay. They've really given their best to fulfill all the needs from the guests. Their friendliness and the readiness for help have shown the best gesture of welcoming. I would say this is a very lovely homestay with such a pleasant attitudes from the hosts.

Mr. Wan had always been nice and courteous to the guest. He has given his best efforts to guide the guest in very details of the stay. He has even take initiatives to remind the guest on some safety precaution including the slippery floor, and the areas to be extra careful.

Mr. Wan wasn't able to provide us a orchard tour on our first day arrival due to the rainy weather. On 2nd day, when the weather had recovered, he toured us in to orchard farm and patiently explained the entire fruit planting process. Including the technology of bio-dynamic and shimamoto.

Mr. Wan has also shared with us the fundamental of having an organic base fruit farm and how different an organic fruits compared to others. Mr. Wan's orchard has been planted with diversed fruits trees. Managed solely by only this couple, they've worked tirelessly to ensure all the fruits are well taken care of. Moreover they've to allocate extra efforts to tidy the room whenever there is a guest staying in.

I cant imagine how could all these tough works be coped by only a young couple. I pay my highest salutation.

Unfortunately, Mr. Wan is planning to sell off this land including the entire homestay package due to the short of manpower. Mr. Wan's expertise is very much on a bakery. He started from a bakery industry and inherited this land from his father since 10 years ago. His dad bought over this land 30 years ago and he has to be the successor after all.

Mr. Wan pledge on the land for a refinancing for a further busienss diversification to operate a homestay business. However, all the challenges have been hit Mr. Wan badly from the pandemic until current. He has gone through all the hardship and still surviving until today.

One of the most unfortunate encounter was being deceived by the interior designer of the homestay. He had compensated a great loss in this encounter. All these unfortunate encounters have put Mr. Wan and Aunty Connie into a very disappointing position. They've suffered so much losses but still trying hard for their best to protect this orchard.

At the last resort, Mr. Wan plans to sell of this land and move to another industry which is more likely to be his forte. He's sourcing for buyer. Nevertheless, I hope this homestay will continue standing & outshine for many years to come. And I give my best blessings to Mr. Wan family and hope they can overcome all the hardships.

My Personal Comments

This is a very charming and peaceful fruit orchard. We truly love it especially the fresh air, the quietness, the beautiful fruit orchard scenery as well as the homestay theme. The cleanliness of the villa is tip top. According to Mr. Wan. The villa is tidied and hosekept by Aunty Connie. As such, they will ensure the first class of cleanliness.

Managing a fruit orchard is a challenging journey, and Mr. Wan understands the intricate care each piece of land, soil, and tree demands.

He has invested significant effort to transform this orchard. Hoping that the next caretaker will sustain and enthusiastically share his lifelong journey, Mr. Wan envisions the orchard's essence thriving for years. Decades later, as he gazes upon the orchard, he anticipates discovering organic memories and envisions his knowledge becoming legendary footprints, leaving an indelible mark on each fruit tree. 👣

The dog 🐕 is named Bad Man. He's super obedient and always swing tails to show the gesture of welcoming! We missed Bad Man alot. He's truly a good watch dog ! 🐕
