PROCEDURE & REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTERING SINGAPORE UNDER A VTL - FOR MALAYSIAN ONLY

VTL procedures between Malaysia - Singapore (For Malaysian) 



Lately, the talk of the town topic is always relevant to VTL (Vaccinated Travel Lane) launched by Singapore & Malaysia. 

As requested by many friends, I hereby share wtih you my experience of going through this procedures and preparation. This is referring to my travelling period from 16 Dec- 21 Dec. Any latest updates after this travelling period, you may may need to find out the latest requirement. 


Prior to Departure


1. Checklist - Please refer to the below checklist for the eligibility and other required documents for clearance. 


a. To apply VTP (Vaccinated Travel Pass

Important Notes :- 

*VTP pass can completed through the weblink below. Pls take note that VTP pass must be applied not later than 7 days prior to your departure. 

* VTP pass requires to upload the 2 doses of vaccination QR code via the below weblink.

b. Covid 19 insurance 

* pls take note that sg government requires a min $30k Covid 19 to be subscribed under this VTL program. 

* the said insurance can be purchased from the below insurance merchants in Singapore

c. Pre-departure test 

* pre-departure covid 19 test either RTK or PCR has to be undergone 2 DAYS BEFORE the departure

*Only selected clinics are accepted under this pre-deparylture test. Pls refer to the list below.

d. Covid 19 test upon arrival 

*upon arrival at sg Airport, travellers are required to undergo a PCR test at the designated medical booth at Changi Airport. 

* The upon arrival covid 19 test can be pre-booked via the website @ 

*Alternatively, traveller can purchase on the spot at SGD 125.00 per PCR test. 



e. Passport Validity 

* pls ensure your passport validity is at least 6 mths before the departure. 


f. Arrival Cards 

* Arrival cards is now available online. Pls complete in advance to avoid any delay in custom clearance upon arrival



g. Trace Together Apps 

* Pls download Trace Together Apps (Sg Apps similar to Mysejahtera) activation is only available after the custom clearance is successful. 

* This Apps is required for the admission for all the places in Sg. It's an Apps to trace your health status and locations. 

* This Apps is using a Bluetooth Function to enable your access at every entry check points of your visited places. So you can conveniently tab your phone on a check in device without having even scanned the QR bar code. 


2. VTL requirement 

2.1 Please be noted that VTL for Malaysia is only applicable for Air & Land.

2.2 For Air, it only empowers the lane between KLIA & CHANGI. As such, only Malaysia Airlines is the only available option. 

2.3 For Land, its only applicable for work permit. 


On Departure Date (KLIA) 


1. Traveller is advised to reach airport 4 hours before the departure. 

2. Only counter check-in is available 

3. The counter crew will reverify if you're having the Sg Arrival cards.

4. While entering to the custom checkpoint, pls straight to the Malaysia passport lane. Pls be noted that Autogate is temporary not available. 


Upon Arrival in Singapore (CHANGI)


1. Pls make sure the arrival cards is ready. If not, there is also the qr code signage everywhere at the notification board reminding you to download the e-arrival cards

2. Connect to Changi WiFi (It's FOC) 

3. Proceed to custom clearance . 

4. Collect Baggage

5. Proceed to PCR test

* there are 2 sections

*first section is registering your personal details 

* 2nd section is undergoing test (with cubical) pls ensure you've purchased the PCR Test package (QR code is available everywhere) 

* after PCR test, exit from the airport. Result will be advised within 12 hours. 


Post arrival 

2 types of covid 19 test are required during your stay in Singapore

A. SUPERVISED TEST - Need to select the nearest clinic to undergo the test. The list can be found in the link sent by the Safe travel office from Sg Gov. 

B. UNSUPERVISED TEST - using self test kits at home.


1. Pls be reminded that supervised covid 19 test is needed on 3rd and 7th day. After 7th day, no more test is required. 

2. For unsupervised test, you just have to perform the self test at home. The result needs to be uploaded daily into the safe travel office weblink. 

**(The link will be received via email from Sg Gov upon your custome clearance. Pls ensure your email is input correctly upon your VTP pass application)

3. For supervised test, it requires the traveller to select the appointment and time via the weblink provided and attend to the test accordingly. It will only take less than 15 mins for the entire process. It's very systematic and fast. 





Singapore has enforced a stringent rules & guidelines on the entry to Sg in order to control the spread of covid 19 diseases. Failure of adhering to the procedure, may result a heavy penalty or fine up to SGD 10K or imprisonment.


Retuning to Malaysia


Before departure 

For Malaysian : 

Checklist as follow :- 


1. PCR test certificate which has to be done within last 48 hours at any approved clinic in Singapore. PLS TAKE NOTE THAT ONLY PCR TEST IS ACCEPTED under Air VTL  Travel. 

2. Valid Boarding pass (under VTL lane) 

3. To submit VTL form in My Safe Travel (suggest to fill up the form prior to the arrival in airport. 

4. Download Mysejahtera apps 

5. Fully vaccinated.

6. To arrive at airport 2 hours before departure 

7. Purchase on arrival PCR test in Malaysia. Price as follow

Express (1.5 hours) : RM 370 

Normal (3 hours) : RM 250 


Upon arrival at KLIA 

1. Upon arrival of KLIA, the local Malaysian need to undergo another RTK PCR at the designated KKM booth administrated by pathlab healthcare screenign before the final clearance.

2. If the test result is positive, one will be required to wear a pink wrist band and fulfill a 14 days home quarantine. If the symptoms are getting more appearance or worsening, the quarantine period could be prolonged or admission would be advisable.

3. If the result is negative, one will be released with quarantine free.
