Day trip to Sinn Loong Peanut Factory

DAY TRIP TO SINN LOONG PEANUT FACTORY (RAUB)

A peanut is nothing but the roasting that matters.

So happened, we drove through this peanut factory 🏭 Sinn Loong during our visit in Raub town. Our intention was to visit another peanuts factory in Simpalit.

Anyhow, we were attracted by this factory with its very vintage Outlook and its gate was wide opened. It seemed welcoming us into it. We pulled aside and walked into this peanut factory. This factory has a very spacious front-yard. And the fence was hung with all the peanut poster. Full of ground nuts sensation.

Some ready-made products were displayed in front of an old cottage and array of raub made products were selling here too. Out of sudden, a young and energetic man came out and attended to us. His name is Mr. Liew. He enthusiastically introduced some local products to us. He looks very soft-spoken and polite. After all, we asked if we could have a quick tour to its peanut factory beside this old cottage as we saw there was an open yard with some traditional equipment sitting still there. The factory seemed not in operation at that moment. This is due to the pandemic has significantly reduced their business volume and therefore, they proportionately reduce their production too.

Without further ado, Mr liew led us to next door and started enlightening us with the entire process of peanuts manufacturing  processes.

He was passionately sharing all his knowledge to us and we came to know that he is the 4th generation of this family business. The business was established by his great grand father in 1948 and it has been running for more than 70 years.

From the traditional peanut roasting through hand stirring imparted by their ancestor, and now they've evolved to a concrete stove, this is a beautiful transition whereby we could see how they've been keeping this peanut business so well and successfully through priceless experience accumulated generation after a generation

Although the factory was not in operation during our visit, Mr. Liew has generously shared his knowledge and the peanut roasting process to us. We spent almost an hour for this tutorial. We had a lot of precious take-aways and meanwhile, we understand every business has an essence to its success. Just like this peanut factory, it takes us less than 1 second to peel off the shell of a peanut, but it takes more than 1 week for the entire process and for the peanuts to be ready for packing and on shelf.

As such, Please treasure every peanut from now on. It's truly a sweaty process to produce a quality peanut 🥜.

Tutorial of the Sinn Loong Peanuts process.

Highlights : Sinn Loong Peanut is made from organic ingredients. No preservatives. Once purchased, it's best to be consumed within a week for a most fresh quality.

As there is no added preservatives, that's also the reason that they've not supplied to the hypermarket. Usually hypermarket only acquire those with long lasting peanuts which is against the principal of Sinn Loong.

Roasting Process

1. Storage : Raw peanuts to be kept in a dry and clean container

2. Marinated ( 2 - 3 days) : Marinating the peanuts with flavours ( Lam Yu, and etc) this process

3. Drying process (2 -3 days) : After Marinating, need to dry the peanuts at an open fields. Need to depend on weather condition. If rainy season, it will take more days.

4. Roasting (1 - 2 days) : Marinated peanuts to be transfered to the stove for roasting.

5. Filtration: To filter out the damage and imperfect ones.

6. Cool down : Peanuts retrieved from stove needs to be cooled down.

7. Packing : Packing and Distribution

Special thanks to Mr. Liew for touring us around. It's a very educational tour.

Photo booth :

There is also a very unique wooden chair for photo shooting session in front of the peanut factory. This chair is made from a kind of very special wood. This wood is said having a very shiny surface. The longer you use, the more shiny it is. Do take a pictures by sitting on it.

We have also brought back some souvenirs from Mr. Liew shop too. If you're making your trip here, don't forget to buy some peanuts from their shop.  First class quality, 100% organic, and traditional roasting process.  You can feel their passions through their roasted blood stream !

Roasting peanuts process is just like our lifelong journey. A success requires one to go through different stages of learning. Step by step to achieving our ultimate goal. A good process will tell how much the value in oneself.

Just like a peanut, when you crunch the Sinn Loong peanut in mouth, the mild burn scent will tell that this taste is so invaluable. It's not about the price, but the passions and the beautiful essence behind their ancestor's forehead.
