1. Tropical Village

Before visiting this theme park, we'd lowered down our expectation as this place has not much advertisements and we presumed that it could be just a very basic and plain amusement park whereby nothing much would really excite us with *wow* effect.
Upon arrival, not many cars were seen parking outside the park, thus, we'd almost concluded that our presumption could be rather accurate.
However, When entering to the main gate, the appearance in front of us were really amazing and you would never expect there were so many miniature building structures lining up in ascending order in our first sight and some were stretched out as far as on the hill.
Every miniature of the world's landmark looks so identical and solid, you can't wait to keep all of them into your camera memory.
There were pisa tower, twin tower, Easter island, pyramid, great wall of China, Eiffel tower, Hollywood sign, sleeping Buddha and many more.
This theme park is also featured with haunted house, dinasour park, boating, and etc.
Frankly, it's very much beyond our expectation, and they're just too impressive. This theme park is spacious too and you would probably spend whole day here just to finish your world tour with all this well elaborated architecture.
Pls don't underestimate this park, it would certainly make your trip worthwhile. There are about more than 50 miniatures for you to explore. It's not just a miniature, When you examinate closely their detail, you would find the sophisticated interior and exterior.
Bring your family along and support this theme park. I just bear it to see then shutting down due to running out of maintenance fees.
Start your world tour here!

2.  Check in at lover's bridge resort

This is a guesthouse by the sea. The trademark is the lover's bridge beside the guesthouse. The bridge is built in wooden material & extended 150 meter long toward the sea.
This guesthouse is located within a heritage Chinese village, and located at the edge of the valley. You can't see this lovely guesthouse from the main gate of the village, whereby you'll first approach a distinctive Chinese temple at parking area, and you will have to walk through the temple and passing by a very nostagic street with some local food stalls and some archaic cottages before reaching this guesthouse.
You would find this village very peaceful and full of neighbourhood bonding. All the villagers live in one big family community, harmonically doing their duty to watch for each other interest.
This is a very friendly village and everyone seems living happily ever.
After passing through the temple, and walk up to a slope, it will then lead you to lover's bridge guesthouse.
There're different kinds of room in this guesthouse. The most exclusive ones are facing the sea units. Your bed is set in front of a full glass window, and you can have a full view of the sea and star lit sky at night.
Special highlight is sunset watching at the bridge. Stand on the bridge and capture a silhouette shoot with the yellow york in the evening. What a perfect retreat !
If you come in a group, you can have a barbeque session during your stay. There is BBQ facility available for use.
Along your stay, you can have unlimited sea breeze blowing with aromatic sea air in your nose. Good to stay.

Try the home made *PAO* along the street
towards the lover's bridge resort. Their signature is the vegan pao. Filled with generous amount of juicy turnip & carrot slices. So contented.

3. Old street sky park

Batu pahat is a nolstagic town and most of the building structures were built in colonial design.
However, this newly constructed sky park stands out as a most urbanized building among all. The paint, colour, brick are brand new, it elegantly shines in the centre of batu pahat town.
Despite of its modern structure, it's still a very classical building as it was intentionally designed based on vintage technique.
Will suggest you to visit at night time and the lighting is beautiful and happening. There is a sky park set at the upper floor of this building, it's indeed a romantic garden for a couple to enjoy their cancel light meal.
There are some awesome camera spots to feed your shooting crave.
The sky park is very fairy-tale alike style, a piano, a rosemary walkway, white horse, bench, and etc to transform your realistic to imaginary world.
Behind the building there is a street arts wi th vivid wall painting. Don't miss it. There are just too artistically charming!

4. Chong Long Gong Temple

This temple is neighbouring with the lover's bridge resort. It houses a lot of spiritually saint idols and gains a good attendance & worship from the villagers.
One of the uniqueness of this temple is rooted besides the ocean and all the idols' statue are facing towards the sea. According to Chinese, the Feng shui is superb. The villagers strongly believe that this godly temple is their guardian, and bringing to them abundance of good fortune, health and wealth.
This temple abounds with incense burning and praying ceremony throughout the year. It seems like all the godly statues have come to live. I would say its a must visit attractions.

5. Temple Tua Pek Gong

This temple is located near to the batu pahat old pasar. You would certainly notice this temple when you're passing through from the main road.
This is a very gorgeous and splendid temple where you can find a lot of folklore, and traditions about many kind of beliefs.
There are many beautiful statues implying the goodwill and righteousness, and there are indeed very educational.
You can't imagine all this legends were once empowering human mentality, leaving mortal a strong sustainability towards their life journey.
Every myth in this temple is so fascinating, you would not want to miss any of those, some are just too impressive. In this modern technology era, these folklore may be gradually forgotten by some of the urbanism, but you would perceive that there're some values behind them which will lead us back to right path when you tend to lose you soul in this hypocritical world.

Location : 104, Jalan Pantai, Taman Pantai.

6. Pantai Minyak Beku (Frozen Oil Beach)

One of the key attraction near segenting is Pantai Minyak Beku. This is a recreation park by the ocean. Many local villagers love to spend their leisure time here for unwinding or weekend activities.
This is beautiful beach featured with rocky cliff. You will see a lot of big rocks at the shore and this is also the main port for the fisherman's departure to the sea for their daily catches.
This beach is named Minyak Beku as it was having a historical events occurred here. This well was dug by Siamese troops when they were on their way to southest of Malacca. Initially they were searching for fresh water, by chiseling the stone and miraculously oil oozed out from the stone.
In fact, Batu pahat as named after this chisel stone.
This could be the ideal place for fishing spot too.

Location: Pantai Minyak Beku, Jalan Minyak Beku.

Food trails

7. Dinner at Riverside Hawker Centre

This food court gathers all local delicacies and you may find it very concentrated as it consists of variety of food stalls run by the local people. Some food stalls are the generation biz with few cycles of successors.
This hawker centre is always crowed and a lot of locals will choose here for their favourite dinner place as the price and taste are really promising!
One of the best highlight is their fried Fu Zhou noodles. This is of signature food in batu pahat. It looks a bit similar to our KL fried hokkien me, but it tastes more alike a braised noodles. I very much like the gravy and savoury with strong wok heat.
There are other foods like Grilled Chicken Wing, Rojak, noodles, and many more are worth to try.

Location : Riverside hawker centre, Jalan shahbandar.
Business hour : 6pm onwards

8. Breakfast at Hai Nam Kopitiam

This Hai Nam kopitiam is one of the highlight for your breakfast spot in Batu Pahat. They're serving traditional and classic breakfast and many locals like to grab a toast and a drink before they head to their working place.
Food price is economic and the owner well recognises all his regular clients' preference and always be prepared to customize a drink to meet his clients' satisfaction.
This kopitiam is not really noticeable, and the sign board is red in colour, thus, you may tend to miss it when you're passing through the main street.
My most desired breakfast meal set is having a classic toast ( half roast with melting butter and enriched with fragrant kaya smell. A pack of nasi lemak wrapped in banana leave and well complemented with savoury ikan bilis sambal, a home cooked fried bihun with topped with a sunny side up....
That's superb start of the day.
Come and visit this localized kopitiam!

  2. Couple of real hidden locations in Batu Pahat:

    1) Bukit Tanjung
Drive past the old runway (yeah, the air strip runway) at Tanjung Labuh towards the sea and you'll more or less reach Bukit Tanjung. A short hike around the hill will bring you to a secret beach

    2) Pantai Perpat
Just search on google maps, you'll see it, getting more commercialized nowadays but you can park your car right up to the sea during high tide (you're free to drive into the sea as well but that's not very advisable)

    3) Taman Botani Johor
Head towards Sri Medan and you'll find this hidden gem if you like a quiet walk in the park. Before you leave you can go have great satay in Sri Medan town.

    4) Pantai Sungai Lurus
Close to Senggarang (where coincidentally, you can have nice coffee), Pantai Lurus have recently been developed into a touristy area. Nice lively place at night if you want to watch the sunset while having your dinner. Used to have lots of cow dung along the road but it's sort of cleaner now.

    5) Smaller towns like Rengit, Yong Peng (Yong Peng itself have quite a few sites to visit but if you're staying in BP, you might as well hop over).
