Monkey Canopy Resort – A One-Stop Family Getaway Near Kuala Lumpur

If you're looking for a relaxing family escape without driving hundreds of kilometres, Monkey Canopy is the perfect destination.

Nestled within the lush hills near Sungai Long, this hidden sanctuary is just a 50-minute drive from Kuala Lumpur city centre.

Tucked away on the famous Sungai Long hillside hiking area, you would never expect such a massive resort to be hidden here. It feels like a mini township, offering everything you need for a complete vacation—theme parks, themed restaurants, resort homes, sports facilities, and plenty of family-friendly attractions.

After a scenic 3km drive along the winding hill road, the resort unfolds into an enormous sanctuary designed to keep guests entertained throughout their stay. Our visit was truly memorable, with five-star comfort and countless activities.

Theme Parks & Attractions

There are numerous attractions within the resort, most of which operate on a pay-per-entry basis, including:

• Dino Desert – Home to Malaysia's largest dinosaur park.
• Enchanted Forest – An immersive indoor interactive walking experience.
• Sports Arena – Featuring pickleball, badminton and more.
• Splash Zone – A fun-filled kids' water play area.
• Go-Kart Circuit
• Safari Kids Park
• And many more exciting attractions for the whole family.

Dining Experience

The resort offers an impressive variety of cuisines, including Korean, Japanese, Chinese and Thai.
We decided to dine at Ah Han Thai, one of the resort's most highly recommended restaurants. The dining environment was simply breathtaking. Each dining pavilion is beautifully designed in a Balinese-inspired style and built above a tranquil fish pond, creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.
Although the prices are slightly on the higher side, the quality of the food and the exceptional ambience made every ringgit worthwhile.

Resort Rooms

We booked connecting rooms, and they exceeded our expectations. The rooms were spacious, cosy and elegantly furnished with modern touches.
Each room comes equipped with:
• Smart TV
• Coffee and tea-making facilities
• Mini fridge
• Complete toiletries and amenities
Overall, the accommodation truly delivers a five-star standard.

Resort Facilities

Guests can enjoy two swimming pools:
• Splash Pool
• Infinity Pool (approximately a 3-minute walk from the hotel)
Honestly, these two pools are more than sufficient for a relaxing swim, making it unnecessary to purchase separate tickets for the water theme park unless you specifically want the additional attractions.
Other complimentary facilities include:
• Gymnasium
• Movie room (currently converted into a World Cup football live screening lounge)
• Games room
• Kids' play zone
• Table tennis
• Snooker
• Beautiful landscaped gardens with swings and plenty of Instagram-worthy photo spots

Service
The resort provides complimentary 24-hour buggy services, separated into two routes:
• Resort room shuttle
• Theme park shuttle
The buggy service is frequent, convenient and greatly enhances the overall guest experience.

Breakfast
Breakfast was another highlight of our stay.
The buffet offers an extensive selection, including:
• Paratha (Roti Canai) station
• Egg station
• Noodle station
• Pastries
• Local and international main dishes
• Fresh fruits
• Salad bar
• Porridge with various condiments
• And many more delicious options.

Overall Thoughts

Monkey Canopy is truly a one-stop integrated resort where families can enjoy relaxation, entertainment and quality bonding time all in one place.

What impressed me most was the excellent crowd management. Despite visiting during peak season, the resort never felt overcrowded.

The management has clearly planned everything well—from expanding the breakfast buffet sections to reduce queues, to operating frequent buggy services throughout the resort.

Kudos to the management for delivering such a smooth and enjoyable experience.
If you're looking for a meaningful weekend getaway without travelling far from Kuala Lumpur, Monkey Canopy should definitely be at the top of your list.
