Kampar
Just a 25-minute drive from Gopeng lies Kampar, a charming town nestled in a valley surrounded by scenic mountains. Kampar offers a full range of amenities, eateries, and cafes. Once a quiet, overlooked town—largely due to the direct expressway to Ipoh that bypassed it—Kampar is now experiencing a revival.
With the establishment of TAR University, Kampar has transformed into a vibrant community. The town is divided into two distinct areas: Old Town and New Town, allowing visitors to experience both traditional and modern atmospheres.
Kampar still retains its authentic character, inviting you to immerse yourself in its unique blend of history and modernity.
1. Food Court Kampar
Kampar’s food court is a hub of local delicacies, offering a taste of true Kampar flavor. Every stall is run by locals, making it the perfect one-stop spot to sample the town’s diverse culinary offerings. The food court is especially lively in the morning when most stalls are open, though a selection of popular stalls also serves customers in the evening.
My all time favourite Kuey Teow in Kampar. Recognise this Keuy Teow frying on a wooden bench. Only at night time. |
Highly recommend this stall. Their Curry Chee Cheong Fun and Yam Cake are so mouthwatering! 🔥 |
2. Pasar malam
A night market operated mostly by our locals malays. Probably one of the most lively pasar malam in Kampar. Abounds with good street foods and localised souvenirs.

Tg Tualang
Tanjung Tualang, a small town about a 20-minute drive from Kampar, is known for its modest charm and delicious food, especially its famous Big Head Prawns. Thanks to its proximity to Kampar and a steady flow of tourists, it has grown into a vibrant township with new attractions.
Originally, Tanjung Tualang thrived as a mining hub, with bustling activity centered around tin mining. However, once the mining era ended, the town’s prosperity faded. With support from the state government, Tanjung Tualang has now been revitalized as a popular tourist destination, aligning with the *Visit Perak* campaign.
1. Maze Garden / Tin Mining Dredging
This is an incredible park with a small entrance fee, giving you access to both the Maze Garden and the Tin Mining Dredging Ship tour. The Maze Garden is particularly impressive, once one of the largest in Malaysia, with themed areas that add to the adventure.
The Tin Mining Dredging Ship, a historical remnant from centuries past, is a massive structure that looms over the mining lake like a giant. The ship’s details and interior give a glimpse into the grandeur of the tin mining industry in Tanjung Tualang, making it a visit well worth your time.
2. Sun Swee Kiong Restuarant (Special Highlights : Big Head Prawns)
Discovered this restaurant in Tg Tualang. I would highly recommend to drop by for their addictively delicious dishes. Price is super reasonable.
We ordered the following dishes and it costed us only at RM 150
1. Small Shun Hock fish
2. Fried Oyster Eggs
3. Big head prawns with stir dried sauce
4. Stir Fried Fern Vegetable (Paku Vege)
None of the dishes disappointed us. Big credit goes to the Fish And Prawns
The Fish was steamed with special soy sauce. The steam timing was perfectly done. The meat was so tender and succulent, and the freshness was well kept in the fish. The Crystal white meat was bouncy and irrestibly scrumptious.
The prawn was superb too. The sauce was perfectly matched with rice. This recipe was simply too toothsome.
The owner was very generous and friendly. She offered a lot of samples of the in-house products such as snacks and biscuits for us to try. She never stingy with sharing the sample and never be forceful to push the products
Her daughters was a good Baker and pattisery. She shared her baking experienced with us and showed us all her own-baked amazing cookies with so much captivating designs and shapes. All we're designed & created by her own talents! This is superb
Can't believe we just found a best restaurant in Tg Tualang. Will surely return in our next visit !
3. Rojak and ABC
This is one of the best rojak spots in Tanjung Tualang. The sauce is thick, rich, and topped with a sprinkle of crushed peanuts—an indescribably savory delight. Pair it with a bowl of ABC on a hot, sunny day, and you’ve got the perfect refreshing treat!
Accomodation
Gopeng and Kampar offer a diverse selection of resorts and hotels.
POV: several highly recommended options that promise a unique stay and guaranteed comfort. Be sure to explore these exceptional accommodations when you arrive.
1. Kandu Resort
A highlight of our stay was Kandu Resort, located near Gua Kandu in Gopeng. From our room balcony, we enjoyed a breathtaking limestone mountain view. In the morning, as the mist gradually lifted, sunlight filtered through the leaves, reflecting off the ground. A cool breeze gently touched our faces, and the towering mountain came into view with the dawn. Birds chirped, butterflies flitted around, and the forest's calm slowly awakened into a lively symphony of sounds.
Nestled along a cave road and surrounded by lush greenery, Kandu Resort boasts a stunning landscape with a limestone backdrop and a large pond at the mountain's base. The rooms are clean and cozy, with furnishings designed for optimal comfort. The bold, classy interior and luxurious bedding are reminiscent of a five-star resort. Our balcony’s view of the limestone mountain added an extraordinary touch to our experience.
Breakfast was modest but delightful, featuring a delicious plate of nasi lemak, cereal, and toast. The nasi lemak, with its pandan-scented rice served hot, was a standout.
For those seeking adventure, the resort offers optional activities like cave exploration, ATV rides, and water rafting for an additional fee.
Our overall experience was truly incredible, and we’re already planning a return visit. This place is wonderfully unique, surrounded by nature’s beauty, and feels like a perfect escape for relaxation and soul rejuvenation. It’s truly a sanctuary for both mind and spirit!

3. Re-farm Cave Stay ( 绿坊)
Refarm resort is located in kampar and it's a farm stay resort surrounded by greenery and natural reserved. The uniqueness of this resort is it's featured with spring pools, petting zoo, cave designed room, and fruits trees sections.
The only way that you can get rid of the digital world is to immerse yourself into this natural retreat.
Cave room
If you come into 2 pax, opt for the cave room. It's not spacious, and the room size is rather narrow and cramp but it perfectly fits a couple.
The atmosphere is like you're staying in a cave with your love one, but with air-conditioned. Rest assured that your relationship will grow deeper after this stay
Pools ( Spring water naturally flown from mountain)
There are 2 pools in this resort. The main one is set just beside a waterfall and the other one is the center of the resort.
As told, the pool water is actually the spring water naturally from the mountain.
It's so refreshing when you soak yourself into the pool and you can feel the freshly cold water purifying your soul. It wonderfully relieve my tiredness.
MAIN POOL - there is a fountain in the center of the pool. Every now and then, a strong force of water will be shot out from the fountain. The the force messages your back and shoulder. What a relieve!
2ND POOL - IN the Centers of the resort. There is a manmade waterfall at the side. Let the water fall hit on your head, it creates a massaging effect. It's superb.

2. Dinner in refarm resort
You don't have to scratch you head for a dinner place. This resort has a restaurant and serving dishes.
Freshness guarantee as their fish source is from their own-rear and from their owned fish pond. Chicken meat is from their own free range chicken too. Organic + healthy. Probably you would think the cost of meal is pricey when the word *organic* appears. Surprisingly, 3 dishes only costed us less than RM 40.00. Do you believe it?
