A leisure holiday in Melaka - Vol. 2

Melaka wonders Vol. 2
A leisure holiday in Melaka.
Just do it ☑️ whenever you need a break!

MELAKA is well known as a historical town full of artifacts and nice foods.
In my previous blog, I'd shared a lots about top foods and attractions.
This chapter Vol. 2, I'll introduce some leisure things to do in Melaka and some beautiful instagramable spots that you could take away from this old yet charming place.
Spending a night or two in Melaka, you would simply find a lot of wonderful moments as if in a time ticking capsule where allows you to live in both old and modern era concurrently.
Simply taking a walk along at the Riverside, chewing some Baba & Nyonya cuisine or taking some portraits at some scenic places, could be a most delighting way to pamper your soul!

1. Sand Dunes

You could never imagine a borderless piece of land covered by countless white sand dunes can be found in Melaka Town. The pearly white sand dunes appear as a bright glowing dessert under the hot sun as if a layer of thick snow remain untreathened by the sun light.
This massive white sand dunes seems drawing a significant territory between the straits and the land. Few patches of green grass growing out on the dunes seems so contrast & eye catching as if a bunch of hairs sprouting out from the dunes surface.
Wearing a colourful dress or shirt with taking some nice pictures on the dunes, it's just like an angel dancing through the earthly paradise. So magnificent.
I would name this dunes - A fairy land.

Address : GPS coordinates 2.216384, 102.194318
When you see a huge metal pillar with a stone chalking "pasir cantik" (picture 1), cross over it and that's the entrance to the sand dunes.

Important notes : you've to walk 15 - 20 minutes to reach the sand dunes. Do bring an umbrella to avoid sun burn during a hot season

Suggestion : wear a colourful dress or bring along a colourful umbrella to enable a more contrast and beautiful photo shooting.

2. River walk

In good old days, the main source of living in Melaka was the river bank. This signature river in Melaka has been flowing through diffrent eras, leaving melaka with a lot of memorable events & histories.
This river bank used to be transporting many business man from one place to another, and supporting many villages in their daily routine such as clothes washing, fishing, and etc.
At present day, it has been fenced up and beautified as a main tourist attarction. But you could try to imagine its function in the past era where people were highly dependant on it.
Taking a stroll along the riverside at night, seeing the beautiful lighting gradually penetrate through the darkness, all the archaic Street and vintage building appear to be extra mysterious under the dim lights.
Taking some nice pictures with the night scenery, enjoying the windy weather, watching the wavy river restlessly flowing through a diffrent direction, sometimes there would be some cruises coming by, it adds extra credit to this picturesque town.
You may use the entrance from JAMBATAN PASAR and all the way leading to Jonker Street.

Address : Waze Jambatan Pasar.
Tips : There is a parking space just right in front of the Jambatan Pasar. Enter from the point of Jambatan Pasar and start your walking journey using the river pedestrian walk.

3. SubMarine Museum

This sub marine museum is super cool and it collect only RM 6 for the entrace. The most eye catching is the size of the submarine. From far, you would be able to see a giant whale alike shape in the centre of the museum.
It allows you to enter to the submarine and have a glance of the interior set up and all the control panels and operations.
You will be certainly impressed by its sophistication and wonder how much brilliant a human brain is.
This submarine is called SMD Ouessant

4. Holiday Inn Melaka

We've chosen to stay in this Holiday Inn Melaka. Our room was pleasantly assigned facing the Melaka straits.
Overall stay was satisfactory. Room was clean and very cozy. All bedding equipments are comfy, and the most impressive one was the full ceiling height plated glass window allowing a panaromic view of Melaka straits. Super delighting & awesome.
The infinity pool featured in Holiday Inn is super cool too. The pool is facing the straits and you may enjoy the beautiful surrouding while resting your arm on the pool edge.
