12. No name noodles ( pick your own sides)
With a local friend accompany, we managed to try out this noodles shop. It's super nice especially the TOM YAM soup base. There are more than 50 types of ingredient to choose for your noodles mix and sides. Personally I love tom yam. I was served a tom yam soup noodles with my customised ingredient and the highlight was a piece of cheese melting on the surface of my noodles. Scrummy!
13. Ayer Itam Sister Curry Mee
This classic curry noodles stall run by 2 sisters and they're now already at their age of 80++ years old. They've been running this curry noodles stall for few decades and the highlight is they're still using the traditional method to cook the curry mee. 2 sisters are never apart, you will see them both always together to guard the stall.
Everyday around 5pm in the morning, they started carrying all the ingredients including curry soup base using a pole from their house to the market. This has been repeated for many years until current days.
Due to aging and the body limitation, their granddaughter is helping them to run the stall nowadays. Yet, according to them, they're not passing this biz to the granddaughter as this is very tough works and they do not wish to let their granddaughter to burden all this hardship.
14. Fried Ma Geok ( fried horse leg)
This fried Ma Geok is probably one of the best one I've tried in Malaysia. Super crunchy the outer layer and the sesame aroma is fully blended into the dough.
Very impressive. When you're biting it, the sound of Crak Crak Crak is unavoidable and you can't wait to have another piece after a piece.
Nice !

15. Kedai Kopi Wah Meng
This coffee shop is located in Ayer Hitam. In the middle of the wet market. This is a neighbourhood coffee shop selling a lot of local foods. It's one of the top choice for the local people. I came to know this due to my local friend's introduction and bringing me there for breakfast.
I was very impressed by the localised ambience & the taste. None of the foods we ordered was disappointing. We've ordered fried Kuey Teow, clear soup noodles, and Kuey Chap ( Kuey Teow Soup - Dark in colour due to herbs and cooked with pork intestine and other parts.
Fried Kuey Teow is truly impressive here, every shred of noodle is well cooked with Wok Scent. The rest 2 kind of noodles were superb too. I would say this is truly a local delights. A long lost taste that every Malaysian is dying for.

16. Asam Laksa
Asam Laksa is one of the specialty of Penang. The sweet and sour soup is always appetizing and it seems like having a miracle power to entice you for a return to it for infinite times. A bowl of noodles filled with sweet and sour soup cooked with minced mackerel fish meat as base. Blended in with many kinds of vegetables and herbs like cucumber, onion, parsley, pineapple and etc. It perfectly teases and tantalizing your taste buds. The authentic fresh fish broth leaves you an indescribable feeling of satisfaction!
There're 2 recommend Asam Laksa in Penang. Pls see my recommendations below :-
17.1 Asam Laksa Ayer Itam
This stall has been well known with its long stand of Asam Laksa popularity in Penang. No one doesn't know about this stall. Every time before you visit the temple Kek Lok Si, this is probably one of the MUST stop over place. It's just located in Ayer itam wet market. However, you've to bear with the long queue during peak season. & you my facing difficulties in finding a good seat too. I would suggest you another choice which is just opposite of this stall. It's equally nice. And queue is not as tedious as the one mentioned . Pls see below.
I managed to video a short slip of the Asam Laksa making process.
Just couldn't stand on the aroma and the fish broth fragrance.
The owner was very professional in preparing the Laksa. He rinsed the noodles few time with the fish broth and make sure the essence of soup fully penetrated into every shred of noodle. Awesome !

18. Tan Jetty Prawn Fritters & Lobak
Lobak is one of the common snack in Penang. Probably I can't consider it as a snack. In fact it's quite filling too. It's a spring roll stuffed with minced meat which marinated with special recipe. There're many lobak stall in Penang. However, the most authentic one is the below recommended. It's introduced by one of my local friend. Seriously. Nothing else is better than this. This is unbelievably toothsome!
Crispy at the outer layer skin and the meat is bulky and luscious. The minced meat is well marinated with the mixture of house recipe. You can really bite the tender meat cube with savoury spices. It's making me finger licking good.

19. Lebuh Cecil Food Court
All fabulous foods gathered into a single roof. Lebuh Cecil Food Court. Stepping into the food court as if you're landing on the food paradise. How I wish I could have 2 stomachs so that I could try all the food at once.
Pathetically, only Cow will have that and it's herbivore... Haha
Cooking smoke rises from the food court, all people are scouting for their favourite meals. Indecisive is definite. How can you pick the best from the best??? Haha
Below is my recommendations:-

19.1 Pasembur
Tried the pasembur elsewhere, nothing is better than this. The thick and rich gravy cover all the fried stuff. They both mixed well and blended thoroughly. It's very quality and the fried stuff is very fresh. No oily smell or soggy texture.
19.2 Duck Meat Kuey Teow Soup.
Nice, nice and nice!! Duck Meat Kuey Teow Soup with a very authentic and flavorous soup base. It tastes like the soup has been cooked for long hours and managed to completely extract the stock essence. It's truly impressive! It's a true regret of not trying this.
19.3 CRAB Meat Popiah
Vegan popiah has nothing special. But popiah with crab meat stuffing is something uncommon and I doubt that you'll never give it a try. Wrapped with a traditional rice skin, that's truly irresistible. The gravy of the turnip slowly penetrate into your mouth, and the rice skin then melt into it. That's so awesome.
19.4 Roasted Pork
Roasted Pork is one of the shouldn't miss in this food court. Crispy surface and succulent meat texture. The meat comes with a thin layer of fat. One piece is never enough!
19.5 Fried Carrot Cakes
You would probably sense a mild scorch soy sauce smell around this food court. That's from the fried carrot cakes stall. The stall is crowded and sizzling sound seems like never ends. The owner non-stop stirring te wok must to ensure every price of carrot cake is fried thoroughly with hot burning taste. And the eggs fluid covers all the carrot cake so that it can be scrambled into every piece of the cake. Only the fragrance will be able to make you queue for it despite of it's a couple of 10 mins queue.
19. 6 Muar Chee ( Glutinous Dessert)
Do try out their muar chee too. Very soft and chewy texture. It seems melting in your mouth due to the fragile and soft texture.
It's good to be your last course of dessert.
29. Ka Bee Cafe
The signature here is the sliced fish noodles as well as the fried shrimp paste. This stall.is beside the Chew Jetty. One word- FRESH.
The fresh fish broth is very authentic and you don't feel the artificial seasoning taste. The soup base is something that you'll have no doubt on the quality of the ingredients. It's like 100% fish soup. The soup is clear it taste like boiling for hours until the essence of the fish/ anchovies being sifted out and well combined into it. Freshness guarantee. The shrimp paste is very crispy and fresh too. It seems freshly catched from the fishing village and coated with the batter lively and instantly deep fried it. The freshness and juiciness of the meat are still well trapped in the inner part. Good !

21. Lorong Seratus Tahun ( Curry mee)
The curry noodles in Penang is different from other places one. That a why make them very unique. The curry noodles located in Lorong Seratus Tahun is one of the famous food stall. Their curry base is not as thick as the KL ones and it's about diluted. But it's full of aroma and original curry flavours. Don't underestimate this curry noodles. Although it's served in a small bowl, it's delicately awesome with all the finest ingredients (pig blood cube, Squids, tofu puff, Shrimps, Cockles). Must try!
22. Lorong Selamat Fried Kuey Teow / Fried Oyster Egg.
Another place for delicious fried kuey teow is in Lorong Selamat. A stall run by a Woman (aunty) and the specialty is their duck egg fried kuey teow. The fried kuey teow is speechless. The aunty is paying 100% concentration when frying the kuey teow. She will never be distracted and you can never place your order through her as She will then divert you to another person to take order from you.
As I said, the fried kuey teow here is so superb. Not only the prawn is huge, but every shred of kuey teow is stirred and fried thoroughly. With the aroma of duck egg, savoury plus fragrance. That's speechless!!.
May try the fried oyster egg too. It's scrumptious too.

24. Batu Ferringhi Mango Pancake
I remember having this in one of the food court located in Batu Ferringhi. But couldn't recall which stall exactly.

25. Gurney Drive
Gurney Drive food court is a tourist spot which gathers all sort local street foods. But not all foods here are meeting foodies expectation. Personally I do prefer only their fried chicken skin and squids. You may locate this food stall in the middle of the street and the stall no. Is 100. There are variety of food stall here. Probably you can share with me if you discover any nice ones here as I somehow feels this place is a bit commercialised and more to cater a tourist preference.
But it's still a place full of choices. May stop over to sight this gorgeous open concept food street. And take a gurney walk after your dinner to enjoy a cool sea breeze.

Personally, I feel the entrance is a bit pricey, but if you're the kind who really loves glowing neon light, you would probably find this super interesting.

17.2 Asam Laksa 哑巴 (Silent) in Ayer itam.I managed to video a short slip of the Asam Laksa making process.

Haha
Below is my recommendations:-
Addess

Good !

32 . Copthorn Hotel Penang
I stayed in this hotel during my trip to Penang. This hotel is 4 stars rated , however I feel it's a bit old fashioned and need further refurbishment for the room interior as it's getting a bit run down.
I'm putting up here just to highlight the private beach within the compound of the hotel. Our room is facing ocean view, I would say this is one of the most fantastic ocean view that I ever had stayed in Penang. A borderless deep blue ocean is just right in front of your balcony and all you breath in is purely sea salt breeze.
Another highlight is the private beach set in front of the hotel. It's a amazing spot for you the take a good pictures with the rocky stones and the blue ocean. As this is private beach, it's least crowded and you can have a very quite and relaxing sun bathing here. The beach is clean with soft and fine sand.
