Food

1. Wanton noodles ( Toong Kwoon Chye)

This shop has been running few decades and the current young successor is the 3rd generation of the Pioneer. They never pass on the business to outsider and is a traditional family business. They do not have a fancy restaurant set up and the shop is still a very old kopitiam place. It looks similarly to some of the Hong Kong old coffee shop style.
They're selling only one type of noodle which is also their signature- wanton noodles. The noodles is house made recipe. Very slim and smooth. The wanton is toothsome. The skin of the Wanton is really fine. Taste like a layer of tissue paper melt into your mouth. Worth trying.

You will find a lot of irresistible good foods here, ranging from fast food, asian fusion, korean, japanese and malay style. They're actually no difference compared to restaurant standard but it's just converted into express food stall to meet all people budget preference. I'd wandering few rounds from head of street to the edge and still couldn't decide what to have. It's simply too variety!!
Tried the ginger chicken rice. Ayam Kunyit. Very impressive and scrumptious.

If you're a soup noodles lover, I'm sure this restaurant will be your best choice. They're serving various kind of soup noodles with their recommended noodles kind - Mi Xian. Mi Xian is different from the normal yellow noodles or Bihun we used to have at the hawker. This is a very special kind of noodles with rougher in texture, very smooth and slippery body and Crystal white in colour.
Soup base is prepared using fresh fish bones, and you can pick you favourite ingredients ranging from sliced meat, fish ball , dumpling or pork ball. The soup is naturally flavoured with essence of fresh fish bones accompanied with tasty Mi Xian. Perfect combination.

5. Ho Kow Hainan Kopitiam (何九海南茶店)

A kopitiam full of nostalgia. This shop has been run by an old men since few decades ago.
The original shop was located behind a hidden street near to Jalan Panggung. It used to be a very archaic and known as a very typical Chinese old coffee shop. It was not as spacious as now,at that time, the coffee shop had not much interior decoration , it was just a very plain and low profile coffee shop. It looked like a leftover property after a colonial era. Yet, the shop gain a very good creditability from all the old folks and regular customer. Due to the overwhelming crowds, the owner (old man) finally moved the KOPTIAM to front row near the main street. It's now a refurbished coffee shop yet the deco is still in accordance to the old classic style. Present day, it's not only a place that old folk will swing by, youngsters, working adults and diner from all ages are here to enjoy this legendary ambience.

7. Restoran O.K. Claypot Congee

This is one of my favourite claypot porridge stall. Sometimes I'll purposely swing by to have a hot claypot porridge before I head home. Very impressive claypot porridge, it tastes like the porridge has been cooked for hours and fully penetrated with the ingredients( meat) essence. The porridge texture is super fine and you can sense mild fragrance from the grounded rice. Very smooth and slippery. You can order some side dishes like anchovies eggs, salted egg squids, signature tofu and a tapioca leaves. So satisfied.

8. Sky 21, Chef Lim' s Kitchen

Try out this cafe located in serdang. Dining at 21 floor, and the cafe is uniquely designed with a sky glass which is one of the best seller and attraction. You can step on this transparent plate glass platform and you feel like floating around in the air and the moment you step on this platform, a feeling of chill start rolling up from your leg to head. If you're fear of height, pls mind your steps.
I would recommend their dessert instead of main dish. I like their cheese cake as well as their Creme Brulee. If you order their creme brulee, you would have the chance to see them flaming the upper layer of the Brulee in front of you.

9. Heun Kee Claypot Chicken Rice

Super aroma trapped in one claypot. This is the most popular claypot chicken rice in KL pudu. The stall is not easily noticed as they're located under a ramp.
The owner is still using the traditional way to cook the claypot chicken which is charcoal. The rice, spices and marinated chicken slowly cooked in a claypot and aroma of the flavours well penetrated into the rice and chicken. Most importantly is the salted fish. The salted fish on top help further regularize the taste and the natural saltiness evenly blended into every pinch of rice. That's so superb. Must order the fried chicken wings too. The lady owner uses her own recipe to marinate the wing. I believe it contains some preserved bean curd ( Lam Yu) taste.
Do order their signature house made soup too. Very nourishing. Highly recommend the pepper intestine soup. It well complements the claypot chicken rice :)

A neighbourhood hawker selling fish ball noodles near pudu. A hearty clear soup fish ball noodles which attracts full occupancy every night. You can sense a strong fish soup smell from far and all people are busy slurping their warmly served noodles. Spongy fish balls soaked into a very authentic Fish Stock soup.
This business started from the mother and subsequently passed on to son.
The stall is set up with a very simple canopy supported by a very basic rack.
Don't underestimate the place, you'll have to queue for your hot soup during the peak hour. Pls also take note that it's only open at night.

11. CHAR SIEW YOONG - Braised pork knuckle

Located in Jalan Pudu Ulu. This is the best braised pork knuckle that I ever have. Besides, there are also other porky stuff you can order like roasted pork, BBQ pork and etc. Nothing will dissapoint you seriously. The braised pork knuckle is indeed so luscious. Well cooked with home recipe. It tastes like having been cooked for centuries. The meat melts into your mouth and dissolves in the gap of your teeth.... the gravy of the braised pork is speechless too. The gravy is well mixed with all the meat essence and the spices used are really flavorful.
I can finish my whole bowl rice with only the gravy. Can you imagine how tasty it's haha...

12. Ho Min San - Mid Valley / Paradigm Mall

This restaurant is the subsidiary of Dragon- I. But the price is more economic compared to Dragon-I. The special highlight is their signature pan grill dumpling. There're 2 kind of flavours which are the choices of either shrimp or pork stuffing. The dumpling is very wow. After they're pan grilled, the meat juice is still well kept inside the dumpling. Every bite is succulent and the mild scorch aroma slowly trigger your tastebuds. So awesome. You can try out their other noodles and in house menu. All are satisfying too. You can pay attention  to those CHEF RECOMMENDED ones

13. New Heong Kee Restaurant

The specialty of this restaurant is their generation home recipe chicken called - Beggar Chicken. Nowadays, you will hardly find this type of cooking style in KL and usually the recipe is secretly imparted by the ancestor from a family business and strictly not disclosed to public. It's not easy to have this dish served instantly and you're normally required to book in advance during peak season.
The making process is so challenging and unbelievably tough.
All the finest herbs are stuffed into the body of the chicken  & the entire chicken are covered and sealed by the concrete cement. Thence, the solid foil with cement is buried into the hot charcoal and slowly cooked until it's well done.
When you unseal the foil, a strong herbal fragrance stream into your nostril and every shred of the meat is fully penetrated with the herbal essence. So good !

14. Chow Kee Pork Noodles (秋记)

This is one of my favourite pork noodles stall meeting all the criteria I set for a certified bowl of authentic pork noodles.
I've been having this since 2 decades ago and I'm still craving for it nowadays and always feel like grabbing a bowl of fragrantly scrumptious pork noodles here at every lunch.
Just can't express how good it's in writing. Trying it and experience the tastefully porky recipe. Adding an egg will give you a WOW effect! Every piece of pork slice well marinated with mild scent of sesame oil and quality soy sauce.

15. Cheras Steam Fish Tilapia

Have you ever tried a tilapia fish with zero fishy smell and the fish meat is so tender as if melting in your mouth? If you're fish lover, this steamed fish stall is your choice.
Pls be prepared to see the freshness and tenderness of the steamed fish served in this restaurant. The steaming duration is just perfectly nice, and the flesh appears to be half transparent when served in front of you. Tearing off the meat & the smoke steaming up with the gravy boiling surrounding it.
Steamed egg is one of the signature dish too. The egg liquid bouncing on the surface..... so licking good.

16. Ku Cha Be 古早味 kuchai Lama

Looking for a healthy lunch treat ? Try this Ku Cha Bi restaurant. I would rate 100% for the food display with their very creative serving utensils, 100% food taste and 100% ambience.
The restaurant theme is using old classic interior. Good place to bring along your parents and senior people. The foods are just too health-conscious.

17. Hock Moon Hiong ( Dried Meat King) noodles stalls. BUY ONE FREE ONE PROMO ~

Didn't expect that this dried meat shop is selling their in-house noodles too. Using dried meat as one of the ingredient. Special highlight is they're having Buy One Free One promo now. And it's ALL DAY LONG INCLUDING WEEKEND. 2 bowls of noodles only cost less than RM 15 with drink a included.
I somehow quite like the noodles here. It seems like typical Hong Kong breakfast noodles set. Some choices come with luncheon meat, taiwan sausages, fried pork cubes, lard and etc. Highly recommended.

18. The One Lemon Fish (太一柠檬鱼)

Trying this for the first time.
Besides the very decent dining ambience, they're having a very distinctive soup base for the hot pot menu. This is also one of the signature & highlight for this restaurant.
Lemon is vastly used as their key ingredient for the hot pot soup and other available choices are Tomato & Hot spicy soup (Ma La).
We ordered Tomato soup due to mom's request. It was so appetizing and it would really make you quaff to bottom out the soup without you realising it.
I do like their creativity of going beyond the traditional hot pot soup base such as (chicken or Tom yam).
This is an ideal place for friends or family's  gathering with sharing a hot & steaming pot whilst telling your lifelong story.

For instant noodles lover, this is the restaurant that you'll be dying for.
I just can't express how awesome the indo mee served here, but I'm sure you'll be amazed with the typical style of instant noodles that you & me always hunger for. Simply a bowl of indo mee topped with sunny side up egg could be so contenting and wonderful.
You can also order the premium one with chicken chop or seafood as add-on. Too perfect for a supper or dinner.

Their very humble dishes are great enough to make you regularly return for its worthiness and tasty meal.

21. BONG-GA Korean Restaurant Mont Kiara Solaris

There are many Korean restaurants in Malaysia. But I somehow feel that this one has indeed met all my requirements as a Korean stye restaurant.
Besides the foods are really localised Korean taste, the side dishes (BANCHAN) are so varieties. They serve more than 9 dishes for every dine in meal and it's refillable.
You would see many Korean ppl visit this restaurant during weekend. It shows how authentic it is. One of my favorite regularly visit Korea restaurant.

22. OUG Top Chef food Court

This is a recently open food court located in OUG Klang Lama. The food court is featured with modern archaic interior design ambience.
The overall concept is just like a traditional Chinese village house in the good old days being converted into a good centre.
There are not many stalls in this food court yet you can rest assured that every stall is truly awesome and probably comes with a winning awards in some food blog media.
I've chosen Nasi Lemak for my breakfast, it was so scrumptious and really the kind of nasi lemak that you and me will be craving for. Fragrantly cooked coconut rice, flavourful sambal, well marinated chicken, crispy anchovis.....
Their in house traditional coffee is good too.
There are also other recommended foods like curry noodles, Egg paratha, chicken rice and many more. All are gaining a very good rating from the food blogger.

25. Thong Kee Kopitiam - PJ BRANCH

One of my favoutite kopitiam and breakfast spot. Every food stall here seems so irrestibly delicious. It somehow makes me very indecisive to choose a most preferred one.
I always feel like trying all yet our stamoch has a limitation.
If you're first time here, will recommend you to try the Curry Noodles, pork noodles and ROJAK first.
These 3 are the key highlights. To specially emphasize on the rojak, the thick shrimp paste blended into the rojak is indescribly awesome. Added in with peanuts crumbs and the prawn crackers - very cripsy and special) not the ordinary crackers. Something like the finest baked crackers.
Besides, you shouldn't miss the in house beverages too. KOPI C is my regularly ordered drink as well as the croissant with cheese and ham. Everything comes with WOW Effect.
